Bright is a 4 year old Lab Golden Cross, and I was paired with her at Canine Companions for Independence’s Northeast Team Training in November, 2011. CCI breeds, raises, and trains (with the help of many, many volunteers) service dogs for people with disabilities. Bright helps me in a variety of ways, including retrieving things I drop on the floor (as small as a quarter!) and pulling my wheelchair to cut down on the wear and tear of my shoulders. She’s a happy dog and she puts smiles on about a million faces every day. It’s a big job!
She was raised in New Jersey by Lauren and May Sikora, and they’ve continued to be an important part of our lives since she came home with me. Check out Lauren’s blog by clicking the link to the left!
